Contact
A particular source of joy to me is working with students in my exam stress sessions which are grounded in the most up to date positive psychology. These interactive sessions are an important part of the senior transition as students explore preparation, healthy habits, procrastination, deep work, their digital worlds (almost always time for a declutter) and mindset/motivations ensuring they feel empowered and are able to achieve their very best outcomes.
I am a strong believer of all that is good for us being on the other side of tough experiences and challenges. Working alongside young people as they learn to identify and sit with difficult emotions is a privilege and I absolutely love my work with them. Bringing humour* into the therapy space is very much a part of my practice as I find this to be a vital ingredient in building rapport and helping young people to relax into our sessions together. *I must caveat this by sharing that despite me finding myself to be truly hilarious my children vehemently disagree.
Practice and approach
Alongside my private practice I am a Clinical Team Lead/Senior Psychotherapist supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs within educational provisions from Early Years up to Key Stage 4. I have responsibility for introducing trauma informed practice and autism awareness initiatives within our provision and facilitating reflective practice meetings. I am passionate about all our young people being able to access education despite their challenging starts in life.
Qualifications and experience
BA (hons) Psychotherapy and Counselling; trauma informed emotion focused
MSc (Psychology); Exploration of the impact of childhood trauma on adulthood locus of control with attachment theory as mediator variable.
